Physical Planning and Development Control Act, No. 25 of 2002. - Adoption: 2002-09-05 | GRD-2002-L-85539 This Act provides rules relative to the physical development of public and private land in Grenada so as to, among other things: ensure sustainable land use; maintain and improve the quality of the physical environment; provide for the orderly subdivision of land; and protect and conserve the natural and cultural heritage of Grenada.
As for the administration of this Act, the Development Control Authority established by the Land Development Control Act, is continued as the Panning and Development Authority. The Minister shall be responsible for consistence and continuity of administration of this Act in accordance with stated objects.
The Head of the Physical Planning Unit, being also the chief executive of the forest officers in charge of managing State forests, shall develop a physical plan for Grenada in accordance with this Act and the Plan shall, after public review, be approved by the Parliament.
Development of land (as defined) requires written permission from the Authority. The Authority may require an environmental impact assessment statement in addition to specified information to be provided by an applicant. Appeal against decisions of the Authority may be had with the Physical Planning Appeal Tribunal established under this Act. The Act further provides, among other things, for enforcement of development control by the Authority, conservation of natural and cultural heritage, compulsory acquisition of land by the Government and regulation-making powers of the Minister.
As for conservation of natural and cultural heritage, the Authority shall function as the national service for the identification and protection of heritage and may designate Heritage Conservation Areas.
Schedule 1 sets out matters to be dealt with by physical plans and the Second Schedule lists development for which normally an environmental impact assessment is required.

Employment Act, No. 14 of 1999 (Cap. 89). - Adoption: 1999-07-02 | GRD-1999-L-53925 Establishes the Department of Labour and the Labour Advisory Board. Part IV sets forth fundamental principles, prohibiting forced labour and discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, national extraction, social origin, religion, political opinion, sex, marital status, family responsibilities, age or disability. Provides for equal pay for equal work (s. 27) and remedies for infringements of rights. Part V covers employment contracts, which shall include three types: contracts for a specific task, contracts for a specific time period, or contracts for unspecified time. Contracts drawn up for specific periods of time or taks shall be considered contracts for an unspecified period of time if the nature of the work is part of the normal and permanent activity of the undertaking. The Act also covers protection and regulation of wages, leave, maternity leave, discipline, and termination of employment. An attached Schedule sets forth conditions regarding employment contracts. Repeals the Employers and Employees Act (Cap. 89), Department of Labour Act (Cap. 80), Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children Act (Cap. 90), Labour Clauses (Public Contracts) Act (Cap. 157), Maternity Leave Act (Cap. 187), Shop (Hours) Act, (Cap. 304), and the Wages Council Act (Cap. 334).

Labour Relations Act, No. 15 of 1999. - Adoption: 1999-07-02 | GRD-1999-L-53926 Governs registration of trade unions, and status, rights and duties of registered trade unions. Part V provides for freedom of association and prohibits discrimination on the grounds of trade union participation. It also provides for freedom of association for employers. Part VI provides for exclusive bargaining rights for trade unions. Part VIII concerns labour disputes, and allows the Minister to refer a dispute for settlement through arbitration. Part IX provides for employees' ancillary rights, including the right to peacefully picket, to refuse to do work normally done by employees who are on strike, and the right to return to work after a strike action. Prohibits violence or intimidation in connection with a labour dispute. Repeals the Trade Disputes (Arbitration and Inquiry) Act (Cap. 324), the Trade Union (Recognition) Act, Cap. 325, and the Trade Unions and Trade Disputes Act, (Cap. 326).
