Second Region

An Act to consolidate, harmonise and update the law relating to occupational safety, health and welfare. Part I provides for the duties and responsibilities of employers and employees, for the appointment of an Advisory Council for Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare, for the appointment of safety and health officers and safety and health committees. Part IV provides for health and welfare of employees in respect of, inter alia, cleanliness, overcrowding, ventilation, lighting, sanitary conveniences, supply of drinking water, washing facilities, meals, and first-aid. Part V provides for safety in respect of machinery and Part VI for safety in employment generally. Part VII makes special provisions in respect of safety, health and welfare in connection with prohibited and toxic substances. Part VIII relates to registration of factories. Part IX provides for penalties.
