Consolidated text with amendments through December 2004, containing 22 sections respecting, i.a., termination of contract (ss. 2 to 4), illness, military service and maternity (ss. 5 to 7), death (s. 8), freedom of association and right to bargain (ss. 10 to 14).
The Act is not applicable to employees working for the state or municipality (s. 1(3)).
Contains rules partly implementing EU Council Directive 1999/70/EC of 28 June 1999 concerning the framework agreement on fixed-term work concluded by ETUC, UNICE and CEEP and EU Council Directive 2000/78/EC of 27 November 2000 establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation.
