Résumé/Citation: Made under Mental Health Care Act, 2002. Comprehensive legislation on mental health care. Divided into 11 parts. Part 1 provides for quality standards and standards. Makes provision for coordination and implementation of mental health services, home visits, community care and some related matters. Part 2 regulates application for mental health care and assessment. Part 3 provides for appeals against decisions of head of health establishment. Part 4 deals with transfer and discharge; Part 5 with surgical procedures and medical or therapeutic treatment. Part 6 provides for maximum security facilities, Part 7 for records, Part 8 for observations, and Part 9 for authorisation and licensing. Part 10 deals with educational programmes, and Part 11 with care administration of property of mentally ill person or person with severe or profound intellectual disability.
