Provides that persons who have reached the age of 25 may take leave for training for a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 1 year. A prerequisite for leave is that the person during leave be a member of a recognized unemployment fund who is entitled to daily cash benefits under the Unemployment Insurance Act. Provides that parents may take leave to care for their own children (includes adopted children) between the ages of 0 and 8 years for a minimum of 13 weeks and maximum of 52 weeks (maximum 52 weeks for each child, each parent is entitled to 26 weeks of the 52 weeks, one parent may not transfer his or her leave to the other parent). Benefits during leave are paid at 80 per cent of salary. Also provisions on sabbatical leave.
