Amends, inter alia, the definition of employee (section 2(3)) to exclude certain categories not exposed to specifically maritime hazards; the provisions concerning compensation for hearing loss, disability (section 8) and the determination of pay on which compensation is calculated (section 10). Repeals section 45, 46 and 47. Section 6(b)(1) is amended to provide that compensation payments for death shall be limited to a maximum of 200 per cent of National Average Weekly Wage applicable on the date of death. Previous amendment to the Act: 1972.
