Second Region

Regulates various aspects of education. Provides that "child of compulsory school age" means any person who is between five years and fourteen years of age (section 2).

Comprises 10 parts. Part 1 (s. 1-2) contains preliminary provisions. Part 2 (s. 3-6) deals with functions of Ministry of Education; Part 3 (s. 7-9) with functions of National Council for Education. Part 4 (s. 10-21) regulates establishment and management of schools. Part 5 (s. 22-23) deals with grant-in-aid. Part 6 (s. 24-33) makes provision for schooling; Part 7 (s. 34-41) for school attendance. Part 8 (s. 42-43) provides for further education; Part 9 (s. 44-45) for scholarships and bursaries. Part 10 (s. 46-48) contains miscellaneous provisions.
