Abstract/Citation: Amends Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act, 1989 to include the principal powers of search and seizure. Makes provision for inspection of mail, search of child or young person to detect unauthorised items, use of dogs for searching, strip search, explanation of purpose and consequences of inspections and searches, restrictions on searches, use of force in carrying out search, recording of inspections and searches, complaints by children or young persons, and power to seize articles found on inspection or search.
