Abstract/Citation: |
Both party States shall promote the implementation of labour standards set out in Annex 1 by appointing inspectors, monitoring implementation, and encouraging voluntary compliance. Establishes a Canada-Chile Commission for Labour Cooperation which shall oversee the implementation of the Agreement and promote cooperative activities in the fields of, inter alia, occupational health and safety, prevention of child labour, human resources development, labour statistics, labour management, and gender equality. Provides for a Committee of Experts and an Arbitral Panel to evaluate and settle any disagreements arising form the Agreement. S. 42 provides that the parties shall seek cooperative arrangements with the ILO. The Labour Principles set out in the annex regard: freedom of association and protection of the right to organize; right to bargain collectively; right to strike; prohibition of forced labour; labour protection for children and young persons; minimum employment standards; elimination of employment discrimination; equal pay for men and women; prevention and compensation for occupational injuries and illnesses; and protection of migrant workers. |
