Abstract/Citation: Amends Social Security Act 1991 in relation to family benefits. Schedule 1 provides amendments in relation to maternity allowance. Maternity allowance is not payable unless a person has reported his or her tax number to the Secretary. Schedule 2 provides amendments amalgamating the basic family payment and additional family payment. Schedule 3 stipulates new rates of calculation of family payment. Also amends the Data-Matching Program (Assistance and Tax) Act 1990, Income Tax Assessment Act 1936, Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986, Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989, Health Insurance Act 1973, and Social Security (Non-Budget Measures) Legislation Amendment Act 1995 in relation to family measures.
