Abstract/Citation: This Act consolidates and reorganizes the Social Security Act 1947 as amended (LS 1947-Aust.3 LS 1951 Aust.2). Chapter 1 is introductory and contains definitions. Chapter 2 covers the various types of pensions, benefits, and allowances under the Act. Chapter 3 provides general rules explaining the assets' test, and how to calculate rates of pensions, benefits, and allowances. Chapter 4 is concerned with international agreements and the portability of pensions, benefits, and allowances. Chapter 5 deals with overpayments and debt recovery, Chapter 6 provides for the review of decisions under the Act, and Chapters 7 and 8 are concerned with administrative and miscellaneous matters, such as offences under the Act.
