  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.  Above 69°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.  NO open flames.  Above 69°C use a closed system and ventilation.  NO water. Use dry powder, carbon dioxide, alcohol-resistant foam.

STRICT HYGIENE! IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Sore throat. Burning sensation. Cough. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath. Symptoms may be delayed. See Notes.  Use ventilation, local exhaust or breathing protection.  Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer immediately for medical attention.
Skin Redness. Pain. Skin burns.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer immediately for medical attention.
Eyes Redness. Pain. Severe burns.  Wear face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.  Rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible). Refer immediately for medical attention.
Ingestion Burning sensation in the mouth and in the throat and chest. Sore throat. Abdominal pain. Diarrhoea. Shock or collapse.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.  Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Refer immediately for medical attention.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Personal protection: chemical protection suit including self-contained breathing apparatus. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Collect leaking liquid in sealable plastic containers. Absorb remaining liquid in dry sand or inert absorbent. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour and by ingestion. Serious local effects on contact with eyes and skin.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is corrosive to the eyes and respiratory tract. The substance is severely irritating to the skin. Corrosive on ingestion. Inhalation of the vapour may cause lung oedema, but only after initial corrosive effects on eyes and/or airways have become manifest. See Notes. The effects may be delayed.

Inhalation risk
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS

ENVIRONMENT
The substance is harmful to aquatic organisms.

NOTES
The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential.
See ICSCs 0163 and 0070.
