  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Not combustible.        In case of fire in the surroundings, use appropriate extinguishing media.

  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Cough. Sore throat.  Use local exhaust or breathing protection. Avoid inhalation of dust.  Fresh air, rest. 
Skin Redness. Itching.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. 
Eyes Redness. Pain.  Wear safety goggles.  Rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible). 
Ingestion No acute symptoms expected.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.  Rinse mouth. 

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Personal protection: particulate filter respirator adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Vacuum with specialist equipment (See Notes) or carefully sweep into sealable containers. If appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

Routes of exposure
Exposure mainly occurs via inhalation. 

Effects of short-term exposure
May cause mechanical irritation to the respiratory tract, eyes and skin. 

Inhalation risk
A harmful concentration of airborne particles can be reached quickly. 

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
Lungs may be affected by repeated or prolongated exposure. This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans. See Notes.

ENVIRONMENT
 

NOTES
NEVER use a domestic-type vacuum cleaner to vacuum the substance, only use specialist equipment.
Periodic medical evaluation of exposed workers is recommended.
Crystalline materials, such as crystalline silica, produced from ceramic fibres when heated over 1000° C present a possibly increased risk of lung cancer to workers.
The TLV value applies to fibres longer than 5µm with an aspect ratio equal to or greater than 3:1 as determined by the membrane filter method at 400-450X magnification (4-mm objective) using phase-contrast illumination.
According to Directive 2017/2398, this EU-OEL applies for refractory ceramic fibers which are carcinogens within the meaning of point (i) of Article 2(a) of Directive 2004/37/EC: a substance or mixture which meets the criteria for classification as a category 1A or 1B carcinogen set out in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
The European Commission Scientific Committee on Occupational Exposure Limits classified refractory ceramic fibres as carcinogen group C (genotoxic carcinogens for which a practical threshold is supported.)
