Training prepares women organisers for trade union leadership roles
DHAKA (ILO News) - 22 women trade union organizers from National Coordination Committee for Workers Education (NCCWE) and IndustriALL Bangladesh Council (IBC) have developed essential leadership skills in a training workshop organised by ILO’s Social Dialogue and Industrial Relations (SDIR) Project, ILO's Workers Bureau (ACTRAV) and the International Training Centre in Turin.
The workshop covered topics including union organising, engaging in participation committees and occupational safety and health (OSH) committees, negotiations, collective bargaining agreements, communication, strategy formulation and work planning.
Mahandra Naidoo, the Chief Technical Advisor of ILO’s SDIR project encouraged participants to share the knowledge that they had obtained with other women workers in their respective workplaces.
The four-day course was held in Savar, Dhaka from 12 – 15 June 2017.
