    The Government of Nigeria validates a Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar Manual and Gender Mainstreaming Strategy relating to Protection of Rights of Migrant Workers through the FAIRWAY Programme

    With support from the International Labour Organization (ILO), within the framework of FAIRWAY global programmme, the Government of Nigeria has developed and validated a Pre - Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) training manual, and a Gender Mainstreaming Strategy (GMS) relating to safeguarding the rights of migrant workers.

    ILO facilitates convening a Coordination Meeting of the Technical Working Committee on Labour Migration Governance in Nigeria

    In a bid to improve coordination among stakeholders working in the area of labour migration governance and management in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment convened a one-day meeting to discuss policy implementation and emerging issues on labour migration.

    FAIRWAY in Ethiopia is partnering with Mulu Tesfa Domestic Workers Association, the sole affiliate of IDWF in Ethiopia, with the aim of strengthening associations' capacity to organize and protect rights of domestic workers including returnee migrant workers

    Job fairs in Kenya provide information on safe migration

    The FAIRWAY Programme contributed support to Kenya’s Ministry of Labour and the National Employment Authority (NEA) to conduct a job fair in Mombasa (26 -28 June 2022) to provide information on safe and regular migration, including to the Middle East, with several more fairs planned in other regions in Kenya.

    The ILO FAIRWAY Programme and the Public Authority for Manpower in Kuwait have concluded a training workshop to contribute to the Domestic Workers Department’s goal of ensuring high-quality dispute resolution by its labour investigators

    Women returnee migrant workers benefitting from women empowerment training provided as part of the business skills training

    In line with Government of Ethiopia's priority to facilitate reintegration of returnee migrant workers, FAIRWAY in Ethiopia is providing business/entrepreneurship skills training to returnee migrant workers. A special module of women empowerment training is also provided to women returnees to empower and boost their inner strength.

    Skills needs in Kuwait following the Covid-19 pandemic

    Based on desk research and a survey of 240 firms across multiple sectors in Kuwait, carried out from October to December 2021, the report explores how the skills needs of companies in Kuwait changed following the pandemic. Providing a forward-looking assessment of the reskilling and upskilling requirements of the country, the report focuses on how the skills mix of national and foreign workers is likely to change in response to evolving local conditions and global trends.
