Sheikha Fatima Vocational Rehabilitation Centre Project for People with Disabilities and Youth with Special Needs

This project aims to provide the needed technical and administrative equipments and support to the Sheikha Fatima Vocational Rehabilitation Centre in Khalil area; whereby these administrative and training units will start to provide the vocational rehabilitation services.

Background


A large number of young Palestinians with disabilities and special needs are dropping out of schools in the early stages. Moreover, the number of youth with disabilities and special needs has been increasing due to the security, economic, and social circumstances in West Bank and Gaza Strip. Also, there is a growing number of young Palestinians that are constantly suffering from injuries due to the Israeli Military operations; and as such they suffer from many disabilities that do not allow them from entering the productive labour market. Accordingly, it is imperative that they are provided with the appropriate technical and vocational training and support to be reintegrated in the social and economic spheres and to be pulled out of poverty.

Objectives


This project aims to provide the needed technical and administrative equipments and support to the Sheikha Fatima Vocational Rehabilitation Centre in Khalil area; whereby these administrative and training units will start to provide the vocational rehabilitation services.

Expected results


Upon completion of the project, the following results will be achieved:

  • Nine training sectors fully equipped:
    • IT and secretarial
    • Maintenance of electronic and office equipment
    • Aluminium work
    • Sewing and curtains
    • Crafts trade
    • Ceramic works
    • Hairdressing and beautification
    • Film and photography
  • Technical and administrative units fully equipped with furniture and technical and office supplies:
    • Administrative units
    • Evaluation, counselling and vocational guidance unit
    • Unit of the rehabilitation programme in the community
