ILO mobile work permit units: connecting workers with employment services

Many workers in agriculture and construction in Jordan work in remote locations and have few transportation options. This prevents them from accessing much-needed employment services and support. The ILO and partners have launched mobile work permit units bringing these services closer to the workers themselves.

Converted vans visit workers at their workplace in hard-to-reach places, to cater to their needs. The benefits of the mobile work permit units include allowing Syrian refugees to apply for and renew work permits on the spot, without needing to travel long distances to town-based application centres. The units also provide awareness-raising sessions for all workers on labour rights and Occupational Safety and Health.
