Within the framework of the Regional Refugee Response and Resilience Plan (3RP), the ILO has adopted a development-focused and employment-driven strategy to support host communities and refugees. The ILO strategy builds on its core mandate to promote employment, social dialogue, social protection and rights at work through contributing to building the resilience of host communities and refugees, strengthening institutional capacities and coordination to eliminate child labour, and supporting evidence-based policy development to ensure an employment-rich national response, embedded in the principles of decent work.

ILO Director-General Guy Ryder presented his report entitled “Building an inclusive future with decent work: Towards sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific,” at the 16th Asia and the Pacific Meeting (APRM) in Bali, Indonesia last month. At an APRM plenary sitting, the ILO’s Regional Director for Arab States Ruba Jaradat summarized the main findings of the report in this presentation of data and info-graphic slides.

The Jordanian government placed employment and Decent Work at the heart of its National Employment Strategy in 2011, and the Jordan Vision 2025 includes clear targets on reducing unemployment. The ILO is supporting these efforts with technical assistance in a range of areas grouped under a single framework: the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP).
