#TuesdayTestimonial is a call to action for all sectors of society to take a stand against violence and harassment in the workplace and for the Mongolian government to ratify ILO Convention 190. The local initiative was launched with the support of "Trade for Decent Work" (T4DW) project funded by the European Union in November 2020 as part of ILO’s global #RatifyC190 campaign. C190 is the first international treaty to recognize the right of everyone to a world of work free from violence and harassment, including gender-based violence and harassment.

A study by the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia revealed that 10% of women in Mongolia have experienced sexual harassment at work and a third of all workers have reported experiencing some form of violence and harassment, with verbal abuse being the most prevalent form. Violence and harassment at work affects not only physical and mental well-being, but also job satisfaction, morale, and productivity. Moreover, it can have long-lasting effects on individuals and their families, as well as on the wider economy.

To address this critical issue, twenty-eight influential individuals of Mongolia, including A-list celebrities, politicians, human rights activists and leading voices in the business world have come together to raise awareness about the importance of eradicating violence and harassment in the workplace. By speaking out, these public figures have shown their support for the ratification of C190, sending a powerful message that it is time to take concrete steps to protect everyone from violence and harassment at work.

The #TuesdayTestimonial campaign ran from November 2020 to May 2021 and was widely disseminated through the ILO's social media channels, reaching over half a million people and demonstrating the growing concern and desire for change within the country.

Peaceful and healthy work environments foster productivity and nurture creativity, while violence stifles output, hinders success, and causes a ripple effect of negative impacts both professionally and personally."

The "Trade for Decent Work" project funded by the European Union has been instrumental in promoting ratification of ILO Convention 190 and raising awareness of the importance of addressing workplace violence and harassment. It supports Mongolia in its obligations to monitor and report on the status of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and ensuring that Mongolian legislation is in line with ILO Conventions. #TuesdayTestimonial campaign has brought attention to a critical issue and has demonstrated the power of social media in raising awareness and pushing for change.
