Employers in Mongolia trained to promote safe and respectful workplaces

In October, the Mongolian Employers' Federation (MONEF) arranged a series of six training sessions on the responsibilities of employers in fostering a safe and respectful workplace free from harassment and violence. The events were organised in the framework of the "Trade for Decent Work" project, funded by the European Union.

The seminars have been directed toward representatives of enterprises, employers' organizations, and professional associations to help them understand their role in promoting a safe and respectful workplace free from harassment and violence, in accordance with the revised Labour Law, with an emphasis on Article 7, as well as the ILO Convention 190 and Recommendation 206.

Moderated by specialists from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, National Committee on Gender Equality, and the ILO, the seminars aimed at informing employers about relevant provisions of the Labour Law and how to deal with cases of violence or harassment at their workplaces.

D. Batkhishig, Specialist from the National Committee on Gender Equality has explained gender terms, defining gender-based violence, its causes and consequences, also what role employers play in ensuring that their employees are able to perform their duties without being subjected to harassment or violence at work.

Additionally, ILO National Project Coordinator Purevtogtokh Ganbold has provided details on ILO Convention 190 and Recommendation 206, with a focus on promoting inclusive, integrated, gender-based policies and approaches in the workplace to eradicate violence and harassment.
