High-level tripartite event to mark the ILO 90th Anniversary

The International Labour Organization (ILO) celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2009. To mark this milestone in China, a high-level tripartite gathering, jointly organised by MOHRSS, ACFTU, and CEC, and supported by the ILO, was held on Wednesday, 22 April 2009 in Beijing.

Highlighted by a video address from Director General Juan Somavia, and opened by keynote addresses by China's Minister of Human Resources & Social Security, leaders from the All China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and the China Enterprises Confederation (CEC), presented both a historical review of the ILO's work in China, and some future perspectives for cooperation between the ILO and China. A photo exhibit at the venue displayed images of women and men at work in the country. Over 130 representatives from the ILO's tripartite partners in China, social partners, embassies, other UN agencies, and international organisations attended the event.
