Programmes and projects

The ILO operates a wide range of programmes and projects in Asia Pacific focusing on relief and development challenges. The overall purpose of this technical cooperation is to support implementation of the Decent Work agenda in each country.

  1. Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) Phase III - China

    1 November 2017 - 31 October 2021

    Sustaining Competitive and Responsible enterprises (SCORE) is a practical training and in-factory counselling programme that improves productivity and working conditions in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

  2. Capacity building of community-managed resource centres (CMRCs) for small and micro enterprise development

    1 October 2017 - 31 May 2018

    To promote and strengthen women’s micro-enterprises by training a cadre of micro enterprise trainers.

  3. Women in STEM Workforce Readiness and Development Programme in the Philippines

    1 September 2017 - 31 October 2022

    The programme, funded by JPMorgan Chase Foundation, seeks to provide women with critical soft and technical STEM-related skills, employability and leadership training coupled with targeted mentorship to help women gain quality employment and advancement opportunities in STEM-related jobs.

  4. Support to the Extension of Social Health Protection in South-East Asia

    1 September 2017 - 30 April 2022

    The Project has for overall goal to help more women and men in Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar and Viet Nam access adequate social health protection, under the overall umbrella of national strategies toward UHC and the global development agenda including ILO's Flagship Programme on Social Protection Floors.

    The ILO's Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Programme aims to empower, connect and support career development of women.

  6. Women in STEM Workforce Readiness and Development Programme

    1 September 2017 - 1 December 2020

    The programme seeks to provide women with critical soft and technical STEM-related skills, employability and leadership training coupled with targeted mentorship to help women gain quality employment and advancement opportunities in STEM-related jobs.

  8. EQUIP : Equipping Sri Lanka to Counter Trafficking in Persons

    1 September 2017 - 31 July 2021

    The Project aims to reduce human trafficking in Sri Lanka by intervening via a three pronged approach (3P’s) : Prevention, Protection and Prosecution through conducting research and awareness to inform regulations and practice, ensuring fair and ethical business recruitment practices are adopted, improving protection services for identified victims and prosecuting and investigating offenders.

  9. EU-India Cooperation and Dialogue on Migration and Mobility

    1 September 2017 - 28 February 2022

    The overall objective of the project is to contribute to better governance of migration and mobility between the EU and India. This project is co-funded by the European Union.

  10. Skills for Employment Programme

    1 August 2017 - 31 July 2021

    The project aims to support domestic employment creation, increase productive employment and bring about higher development impacts from labour migration.

  11. Skills for Improvement of Livelihoods, Economic Opportunities and Security

    11 July 2017 - 30 June 2019

    This project aims for an integrated policy for skills development in Myanmar Rakkhine State that would prepare the workforce and local businesses for current and future skill needs, in a way that is inclusive of poor and rural households and closely involves the private sector at all stage.

  12. Towards fair and sustainable global supply chains: Promoting decent work for invisible workers - Nepal Component

    1 July 2017 - 31 December 2020

    This Japan Government funded project is the second phase of “Way out of Informality in South Asia” (2012-2016). The project aims at promoting approaches that promote decent work at the lower tiers of global supply chains.

  13. Towards Fair and Sustainable Global Supply Chains: Promoting Decent Work for Invisible Workers in South Asia”

    The ILO/Japan project “Towards fair and sustainable global supply chains: Promoting formalization and decent work for invisible workers in South Asia” (Sustainable Global Supply Chains in South Asia) aims to contribute to the development of ethical and sustainable global supply chains.

    Improving Working Conditions in the Ready-Made Garment Sector in Bangladesh - Phase II

    1 July 2017 - 30 June 2023

    Improving Working Conditions in the Ready-Made Garment Sector Programme In Bangladesh is an initiative of the Government of Bangladesh, implemented by International Labour Organization and funded by Canada, the Netherlands and the UK. The three-and-a-half year initiative focuses on improving RMG factory building safety, workers’ rights and overall working conditions in Bangladesh.

  16. Enhancing Rural Access Agro-Forestry Project (ERA Agro-Forestry)

    1 June 2017 - 30 June 2022

    The Project aims to contribute to a peaceful, inclusive and sustainable development in Timor-Leste, through improved rural access, the creation of employment, economic and domestic revenue opportunities through agro-forestry development, and a durable reduction in food insecurity and malnutrition in rural areas. This project is funded by the European Union.

  17. Promoting Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work in the Cotton Supply Chain

    10 May 2017 - 28 February 2023

    The project aims to foster a partnership approach among the partners on promoting Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) for a sustainable cotton supply chain in Pakistan.

  18. Promoting Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work in the Cotton Supply Chain

    10 May 2017 - 31 October 2021

    The project contributes to the implementation of Decent Work in the cotton supply chain in India by supporting the implementation of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW).

  19. Supporting the transition of workers. A Samoan Case Study (Yazaki)

    1 May - 31 December 2017

    The overall objective of this ILO project is to strengthening existing national employment and social protection services to support the transition of 671 workers (men: 38 per cent and women: 62 per cent) to secure alternative employment and livelihoods, preferably in the formal sector.

  20. National Rural Employment Strategy in Lao People's Democratic Republic towards increasing opportunities for decent and productive employment in rural areas

    1 May 2017 - 31 December 2020

    At the request of the Government of Lao People's Democratic Republic, and aligning with the United Nations Partnership Framework (UNPF) for Lao People's Democratic Republic (2017-21) and the ILO Decent Work Country Programme for Lao People's Democratic Republic (2017-21), the ILO has been working to develop an approach to reducing poverty through promoting employment in the rural areas.
