ILO & ADB to hold seminar on creating quality employment in Asia and the Pacific

A high-level discussion on creating quality employment in Asia and the Pacific is being organized by the ILO and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The event, on Monday 3 October 2011, will provide an opportunity for experts and policymakers to discuss the conclusions of the Special Chapter in the ADB’s annual publication Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific, entitled “Toward Higher Quality Employment in Asia”. The event is open to the public.

ILO launches Saphan Siang campaign to improve understanding and change public attitudes towards migrant workers

The ILO, IOM, UNESCAP and World Vision launched the Saphan Siang campaign with the aim of improving understanding between Thais and migrant workers working in Thailand. The campaign provides a public forum to discuss issues on the protection of the rights of migrant workers which will increase knowledge and understanding of migrant workers.

Breakthrough in reforming labour legislation in Vanuatu

Tripartite constituents in the Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu have achieved a breakthrough in consultations to draft an Employment Relations Bill. The new Bill will replace the existing Employment Act, the Trade Disputes Act and the Trade Unions Act.
