Maldives ratifies the eight ILO fundamental Conventions

The Maldives has ratified the eight ILO fundamental Conventions on 4 January 2013, dealing with four categories of fundamental principles and rights at work: freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour; the effective abolition of child labour; and the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

A tripartite meeting on fire safety in the work place in Bangladesh was organized jointly by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the ILO on 15 January 2013. Following the daylong deliberations, a tripartite statement of commitment was adopted and signed at the meeting.

ILO-AJI Jakarta to award journalists on child labour and education
