The ILO's online photo library's user guides

Three easy steps to viewing, searching and downloading photos from the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific's online photo library.

The ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific maintains a photo collection focusing on work and workplace‐related topics, using the Flickr web platform. The aim is to provide an easy‐to‐access source of images that are captioned and credited, which can be used for presentations, publications and advocacy work. The captions can be re‐written when photos are used, however all photos must be credited and used in line with the Creative Commons licence.

STEP 1: VIEW OUR PHOTO COLLECTION ‐ https://www.flickr.com/photos/77173826@N08/

STEP 2: SEARCH FOR PHOTOS – 3 OPTIONS:

By Sets (useful for particular countries):
Click on Sets at the top left of the page, next to Photostream, and you will be able to view all the Sets. Most countries have two sets; (1) field/general work‐related photos and (2) meetings and events/internal interest photos. In addition, some sets are dedicated to themes.

(1) By Tags (useful for particular topics/themes/donors):
Go to the Photostream, click on the three dots on the top right hand corner of the page and select Tags from the dropdown menu.

(2) Using Search (useful for specific words or phrases in photo captions):
The search box is located at the very top right of the page, next to the Sign In button. Select the ‘ILO in Asia and the Pacific’s Photostream’ unless you want to search all of Flickr.

STEP 3: DOWNLOAD PHOTOS

Left click on the picture to open it. You will then see 3 (three) dots at the bottom right of the picture (in the information section); choose ‘Download/All sizes’, choose ‘View All sizes’ at the bottom of the screen and click on the different sizes to see which one you want. Choose the most appropriate for your needs (e.g. if you are only going to use the photo in a small size then download a smaller file). When you have chosen, right click on the image, select Save Image As and choose a destination (i.e. your desktop). Remember to also co py the photo title and photo description for each photo.
