Skills Development Network through South-South Cooperation was Promoted at Employment Expo in Lao People's Democratic Republic

ILO/China Partnership Programme, in close collaboration with Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Lao Federation of Trade Union etc, co-sponsored Lao Employment Expo 2022.

H.E. Mr Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun, Deputy Prime Minister of Lao People's Democratic Republic honoured the event, with ILO tripartite constituents, including H.E Ms Baykham Khattiya, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare; H.E. Mr Daovone Phachanthavong, Vice president of Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and H.E. Ms Aly Vongnorbountham, President of Lao Federation of Trade Union. A total of 10,000 job seekers joined the event on site with 50,000 visitors online.

On 19 March 2022, ILO/China Partnership Programme convened a special session on skills development. The panel discussion invited panellists of Mr Khamsavay Gnommilavong, Director of Lao-German Technical College, Mrs Aloon Thavixay, Deputy Director of Vientiane Capital Skill Development Center; Mr Khamphiang Keolangsy, Director of Vetsaphong Skill Development & Testing Center; Mr Bounkeuth Sisouphanthong, President of BIS institute; Mr Bounseng Khammounty, Deputy Director General of Vocational Development Institute.  
The discussion session was moderated by Ms Keovanlay Phanthavong, National Project Coordinator, ILO/China Partnership Programme in Lao People's Democratic Republic. This special session highlighted the importance of skills training and networking of skills training providers through an ongoing initiative of Skills Development Network through South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
