Training Workshops on Unemployment Registration for Social Security Participants through LMIS integration

ILO-China Partnership Programme and Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MOLSW) of Lao People Democratic Republic jointly organized a series of Training Workshops on unemployment registration for Social Security participants by utilizing Labour Market information System in six provinces of Lao PDR, i.e. Sayyabouly, Luangnamtha, Bokeo, Huaphan, Xiengkhuang and Xaysomboun province in July 2021.

A total of 121 representatives (41 females) from job centres, social security agencies, Labour protection directorates, Skills Development and Employment offices, Office of Labour and Social Welfare. ILO Country Office for Lao PDR was also represented at the training workshop.

Participants had their knowledge sharing sessions on unemployment registration for social security participants through LMIS integration. The method of reporting of unemployment to central level and sound coordination between various sectors at provincial and central levels were the themes of these events.

Participants provided insights on revision of registration forms, profiling and follow-up employment services. MOLSW also had a top-down training on sectoral approach for better coordination and operation in terms of registration of the unemployed by using LMIS, with the aim to link unemployment of social security participants and re-employment.
