ILO Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Africa on official visit to The United Republic of Tanzania

The International Labour Organization (ILO) Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Africa is expected to visit the United Republic of Tanzania from Wednesday 6 February to Friday 9 February 2024.

TANZANIA (ILO News) –The International Labour Organization (ILO) Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Africa is expected to visit the United Republic of Tanzania from Wednesday 6 February to Friday 9 February 2024. Ms Fanfan Rwanyindo Kayirangwa will be among the invited guests to the upcoming 7th Africa Social Partners Summit that will officially be opened by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Hon Phillip Isidory Mpango on 7th February 2024.  

During the visit, the Regional Director for Africa will meet with constituents and Tanzania UN Country Team (UNCT), in which she will have a briefing session with the office of the Resident Co-ordinator and UNCT on the global and regional developments and their implications on the world of work and social justice. She will later have a meeting with the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) to brief them on the role of private sector in Global coalition for social justice and how the employers can engage within the initiative.

Ms Rwanyindo will also hold consultations with the Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability, Hon Prof Joyce Ndalichako on ILO programmes in Tanzania and on strengthening of the ILO support and engagement with the government, including on the global collation to achieve decent work and social justice.
In the spirit of the ILO tripartism and partnership, the Regional Director will also meet with the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) to emphasize on the critical role played by workers on the quest for decent work and social justice.
As part of her itinerary, Africa Regional Director will also visit Zanzibar to hold consultations with the Minister of State, President’s Office; Labour Economic Affairs and Investment (POLEAI) at the President’s Office; Labour Economic Affairs and Investment (POLEAI), Zanzibar Trade Union Congress (ZATUC) and Zanzibar Employers Association (ZANEMA) to discuss ILO support to the revolutionary government of Zanzibar programmes and the activities of employers and workers in the island.
