ILO at the Africa Development Bank Annual Meetings

Aeneas Chuma, ILO Regional Director for Africa, is taking part in high level sessions on Jobs for Women and Young People as well as Jobs for African Youth – From Demographic Dividend to Economic Dividend.

LUSAKA (ILO News) – The ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Africa, Aeneas C. Chuma is among the high level delegates attending the 2016 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank, taking place from 23-27 May 2016 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia.

The theme of this year’s meetings is “Energy and Climate Change”, and draws on one of the Bank’s “High 5” priority areas, namely to “Light up and Power Africa”. It also reflects the Bank’s New Deal on Energy and the key resolutions from the recent UN climate talks (COP21) on global warming.

Mr Chuma will among other key sessions participate in the session on Jobs for Women and Young People- Transformative potential of young people as well as the session on Jobs for African Youth – From Demographic Dividend to Economic Dividend.

He is also expected to hold strategic meetings with the Vice President of Zambia, UN Country team, workers and employer’s organizations as well as ILO’s key cooperating partners. 

The African Development Bank’s Annual Meetings are its largest annual event. They bring together some 5,000 participants.
