  1. Second Edition of the ILO Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy

    24 - 28 October 2011

    The second edition of the ILO Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy will be held in Montreal, Canada, 24 - 28 October 2011 to strengthen the impact of such economy through the creation of a community of practice. Participants from Africa, Asia, America's, Europe and Arab States will further share experiences on employment creation, social protection, social dialogue, green jobs, legal and policy frameworks, informal economy and Local economic development.

  2. 12th African Regional Meeting

    The 12th African Regional Meeting was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from Tuesday 11 to Friday 14 October 2011. The Meeting focused on Empowering Africa’s Peoples with Decent Work. Participants adopted future priority actions for the region to achieve the Decent Work Agenda in Africa.

    The proposed agenda of the Meeting is to discuss progress made by the countries in the region towards achieving the targets set by the Decent Work Agenda in Africa, 2007-15, adopted by the 11th African Regional Meeting, as well as to set out future priority actions for the region to achieve the Decent Work Agenda in Africa.

  6. Pro-employment macroeconomic frameworks, sectoral strategies for employment creation and the informal economy - Employment Policy Department Knowledge-Sharing Workshop

    20 - 23 September 2011

    The Employment Policy Department’s 2011 annual retreat took place between the 20th and 23rd of September at the ILO premises in Geneva. Its goal was to share knowledge on progress made in five key work areas of the department: pro-employment macroeconomic frameworks, youth employment, sectoral strategies for employment creation, national employment policy formulation and research frontiers on the informal economy.

  10. International Symposium on National Qualifications Framework

    8 - 9 September 2011

    The NQF Symposium hosted jointly by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and the ILO aimed at building the intellectual project of NQFs in general and the South African NQF in particular. It sought to analyze and evaluate the impact of the South African NQF and the basket of policies of which it is part, on the national goals of growth and development.
