Some of this work can include to strengthen labour market absorption capacity and income-generating opportunities for the host community and returnees by exploring decent work opportunities, highlighting the key role of vocational training and enterprise development (particularly micro, small and medium-size enterprises). It can also include carrying out skills profiling and counselling of returnee migrant workers in order to assess labour market absorption possibilities and identifying economic-growth sectors as well as informing on TVET needs and expectations for skills development, upgrading and recognition.
  • In July 2017, the ILO, with funding through the EU and in close collaboration with the MOLSA, developed a national reintegration package which provides a comprehensive and holistic reintegration for returnees in Ethiopia and serves as a point of reference for the government of Ethiopia and civil society organizations working in the support of returned migrants.
